Art Car Exhibit, Tesla Roadster Test-Drives, Wind Turbine Display, Eco-friendly Hotel Packages and More Are All Part of the Earth Month Celebration at the Hotel Felix Chicago.
Art, Cars, Martinis, Oh My!
April 1 is more than just April Fool’s Day – the date marks the start of Earth Month 2010 – a way for companies and individuals to commit to a global green economy.
At the Hotel Felix, we have several exhibits and promotions taking place to support Earth Month 2010:
Art Exhibits: Top eco-artists will display their work during the month. Sustainable artists Curtis Frillmann and Brian Mock of 360SEE will display several pieces of work in the lobby throughout the month. Guests can also be one of the firsts to see Allen Christian’s art car design, “Elmer the Art Car.” The brightly-colored car is decked out in reclaimed objects.
Be Eco, Be Fast: The Tesla Roadster, known for going from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds without a drop of gas, will be available for test drives during Earth Month. The car is faster than a Porsche and greener than a Prius. Want to give it a spin? It’s available for test drive from 12-4 p.m. April 21-24.
Extravagantly Green: Fall in love with the Tesla Roadster and and it’s yours. This one-of-a-kind package includes the keys and title to the Tesla Roadster, along two-night accommodations at the Hotel Felix, dinner for two at Elate and a free breakfast. For $125,000, this package is simply extravagantly green.
Windy City’s Wind Turbine: From April 7-30, a working wind turbine and solar panel will be on display outside the hotel. The display will show guests and locals how wind and sunshine are converted into energy.
An Eco-Friendly Toast: A new menu item on the lobby bar? The $12 Treetini martini – made with VeeV acai spirit and other organic ingredients – supports the planting of a tree.
Check out www.hotelfelixchicago.com to learn more about the Earth Month activities. Don’t be a fool this April – celebrate Earth Month 2010 and tell us how you’re being green.
Hotel Felix’s restaurant, Elate, offers a globally-influenced menu featuring fresh, local and organic ingredients. From the creme brulee pancakes and thick rolled oats served at breakfast to the organic salmon or whole wheat pasta prepared at lunch to the smoked spring chicken or plum and goat cheese tart served at dinner, Elate specializes in creative dishes sourced in an eco-friendly manner.
And the food is not just good for the earth, it’s just plain good. We’ve received four stars from Time Out Chicago, and we’ve been nominated as one of the best new hotel restaurants in Chicago in the magazine’s Eat Out Awards.
We’d like to thank all of our guests for dining with us and hope that you will cast your vote for Elate as the best new hotel restaurant in Chicago. Voting is open until 9am on March 15. Thank you for the support!
Art sculptor Allen Christians from House of Balls stayed at the Hotel Felix this past weekend. While his car did not qualify for the free parking Hotel Felix offers for all hybrid vehicles, it did draw the attention of many people in the area. Christians, known for his belief that we all have a creative impulse, also made a trip to 360SEE Gallery over the weekend.
Christians’ House of Balls is located in Minneapolis. His pieces are created from found materials such as bowling balls, wine bottles, skillets and more. Learn more about Allen Christians and his work on his website.
