This traditional German American holiday market features rows and rows of vendors selling authentic European gifts including cuckoo clocks, Bavarian ornaments and clothing. Don’t miss the food: stollen (traditional German holiday cake), schnitzel and German bratwurst. For the adults? German beer and spiced Gluhwein (hot mulled wine). Admission is free. –WinterWonderFest at Navy Pier is jam packed with all sorts of activities for adults and children alike, including the Chicago Blackhawks indoor skating rink and more than 20 rides and attractions. The fest runs from December 6-January 12 (except December 25). For coupons on parking and tickets please visit their site.
–ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo is a fun, annual celebration of lights in the heart of Lincoln Park, just north of the city. In addition to the glittering lights, the event features holiday-themed activities (and Santa Clause!). The lights will be switched on Friday-Sunday until December 13 and will then run nightly (except Dec. 24 and 25) until January 5. Admission is free. For more info please visit their website here.
