Soak Up The Snow!

Who says the best things to do in Chicago are in the summer? We’re enjoying the weather while it lasts, including our favorite spots for sledding, ice skating, and indoor activities for those who prefer to not bundle up. Enjoy!

Visit the Wild Reef Exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium
Experience the thrill of being not-so-dangerously close to the sharks!

Go ice skating at the John Hancock Observatory
Take the opportunity to skate 1000 feet in the air on the 94th floor of this iconic landmark, while taking in to die for views of the city.

Take a snowy selfie with #TheBean
Make a beeline to Millennium Park the moment you see signs of snow for your meet-and-greet with “The Bean,” the famous sculpture and #1 Chicago sight.

A play date with a polar bear
Meet Siku, the 1,000-lb polar bear who’s a resident of the Walter Family Arctic Tundra, one of several new habitats at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Relax in a rooftop snow globe
What better place to watch the snow fall?

Sledding at Soldier Field
North of the field, you’ll find a 35-foot-tall hill perfect for a smooth ride down as you get a view of the lakefront.

Warm Up With These Date Ideas For Winter in Chicago

Just because winter is approaching us here in Chicago doesn’t mean the fun stops! There’s still a great amount of things to eat, drink, see and do. We’re excited to share some of our favorite date ideas from this article by Time Out Chicago. Bundle up and explore the city, then come back to our hotel to warm up!

  1. Ice Skating at Maggie Daley Park – Admission is free – all you have to pay for are your ice skates! Sip on a hot chocolate afterwards and laugh about all the times you both fell.

  2. Head to an Arcade – Chicago’s home to Emporium Arcade Bars – with multiple locations! One was recently opened in Fulton Market – just under 2 miles away from our hotel. Try a new beer and like a kid again!

  3. Eat Food – Chicago’s home to so many great food options – which brings a TON of delivery options, too! Our hotel is located in the River North neighborhood, home to great options like Lou Melnati’s (you have to try deep dish pizza while you’re in Chicago) – or Troquet River North – the French bistro adjacent to our lobby!

Enjoy Chicago this winter!

Celebrate the Holidays At Lincoln Park Zoo

Getting ready for the holiday season? We think the perfect way to do so is to visit the Lincoln Park Zoo Lights! The event returns to the zoo this weekend and the best part is that it’s free! We love visiting the zoo to see the beautiful light fixtures and other special exhibits that are thrown on by the zoo. The event runs through early January and you will definitely catch us making a visit!

Visit the Lincoln Park Zoo’s website for more information.

Happy holidays!

Free Things To Do in Chicago This November

We love Chicago because it’s home to such a diverse group of things to see, eat, drink and do. What’s even better? When these things are free!

Thanks to this article at TimeOut Chicago, we can share some of our favorite things to do for free this month.

Christkindlmarket – More than 50 food and beverage vendors attend and offer German and European treats at one of Chicago’s most classic holiday events. There are also handcrafted ornaments and nutcrackers available to purchase. The event opens on Friday, November 17 and will run through Sunday, December 24.

Chicago’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – The event returns on Thursday, November 2017 and will be taking over State Street from 8am through 11am, featuring floats, marching bands and more.
