Looking for something fun to do outside? Take advantage of summertime in Chicago and enjoy Movies in the Park, courtesy of Chicago’s Park District Movies in the Parks. Chicagoans and visitors love Movies in the Park because it is the perfect chance to take advantage of the summer nights. Featuring a different movie in a different Chicago Public Park every night of the month in August, there’s sure to be one showing to fit your tastes and satisfy your inner cinephile. Past showings have included “Singin in the Rain,” “42,” “Sixteen Candles,” and “The Help.”
Now in its 14th year, Movies in the Parks is part of Mayor Emanuel’s Night Out in the Parks initiative.
“Chicago is known around the world for the vibrancy of its arts and culture and we are bringing this creative spirit and energy to neighborhoods all across the City through Night Out in the Parks.” Mayor Emanuel stated earlier this year when renewing his initiative. Viewers are encouraged to pack their own picnic dinners to enjoy while watching their film. Movies begin at dusk with the exception of weather cancellations, and are free to the general public. With questions regarding cancellations and daily listings call the Movies in the Parks hotline at: 312-742-1134.
