Thanksgiving is almost here!  One growing holiday tradition is the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, which gives families and friends the chance to get some fresh air and a little exercise before their delicious food-related festivities begin.  Most organized Turkey Trots also send contributions to non-profit organizations and charities, which provides participants the opportunity to say “thanks” in a meaningful way.

If a Turkey Trot sounds like an activity you’d “gobble” up, below are links to some Turkey Trots happening in Chicago:

33rd Annual Turkey Trot 8K in Lincoln Park

Over 5,000 walkers and runners are planned to participate in this 8K run/walk, which will also feature the Plymouth Rock Ramble for children ages 2-12. Don’t forget to bring a couple of cans of food to donate to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. At last year’s race over 10,000 pounds of food were collected.  For event registration and information, click here.

14th Annual Edison Park Turkey Trot in Edison Park

Held in Edison Park on the northwest side of Chicago, this 5K will benefit the The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago with The Danny Did Foundation & Emmett’s Hope.  There will also be a Gobble Gallop for kids 12 and under.  For event registration and information, click here.

Old St. Pat’s Annual Turkey Trot at Old St. Patrick’s Church

If Thanksgiving doesn’t exactly inspire your competitive spirit, Old St. Pat’s noncompetitive trot through Chicago’s Loop, Museum Campus, and the lakefront may be for you.  Although participants will be dividing into groups of walkers, joggers, and runners, this trot is “easy, relaxed, no racing; just socializing.” All are invited to attend, just bring a few cans of food to donate.  For more information, click here.

What race are you doing?  Share your race times, stories and photos! Good luck.

  • Hotel Felix announced as finalist in Greater Chicago Food Depository Commerical Real Estate Awards

Posted on February 3rd, 2010 gjordan No comments

logo2Every year, the Greater Chicago Food Depository Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner recognizes the outstanding architects, designers, developers and brokers responsible for the city’s best real estate developments. This year, the developer of the Hotel Felix, Oxford Capital Group, LLC, has been honored to have been selected as a finalist in the redevelopment category.

The annual event is a benefit of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, and has raised more than $10 million for the cause in the last 21 years. Award nominations are reviewed by a Blue Ribbon Panel, comprised of representatives from last year’s award winners, representatives from real estate associations and members of the real estate community. The panel selects two to six finalists per category and then finalists are voted on by the Executive Committee.
The dinner is considered “the Oscars of the real estate industry.” This year’s event starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Hilton Chicago.

The Hotel Felix would like to congratulate all who have contributed to this unique and distinctive project.

  • Haitian Relief Fund

    Dear Associates and Guests,

Earlier this week, the nation of Haiti suffered through a massive earthquake that demolished the capital, Port-au-Prince.  Already the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, the earthquake and aftershocks have destroyed any semblance of normalcy and wiped out existing infrastructure.

If you would like to help our less fortunate neighbors living in Haiti, you can make a donation from your cell phone to the American Red Cross.

To make an immediate donation of $10 to the Haitian Relief Fund of the American Red Cross,

    TEXT “Haiti” to 90999.

Your donation will help alleviate the suffering and make you feel a little better too.

    All the Best,

    Hotel Felix Management
